Street festivals in Sweden

Sweden's street arts sit inside larger city culture festivals rather than standing alone. Stockholm's Kulturfestival fills the centre of the city for five days on a public budget, and Halmstad's international street theatre festival takes around twenty acts from some two hundred applications.

4 of the 4 festivals listed here accept applications directly — 1 through an online form and 3 by writing to the organisers. The rest build their programmes by invitation or through curators, which means the way in is to be seen at the festivals that do run calls.

Write in the local language wherever you can. It is a small circuit and a message in the organiser's own language reads as respect, not effort.
